What is it about Brooklyn and famous celebrated artists who bear the Miller name. Craig Miller is an artist who I have known for years. It was years ago that I hired him as an artist for a design company that I worked for. He was a talented artist then and it's great to see how his personal work has evolved over time. Although I missed his most recent show at West Elm in DUMBO, Brooklyn, while out jogging, I saw that his art was everywhere in DUMBO - West Elm, Waterside Cafe and a huge mural on the street. I can see Craig in his work - his palette is vibrant and strong. Another famous Brooklyn Miller who discovered painting later in his life was one of my favorites, writer Henry Miller. After writing some of the most amazing literary works, Tropic of Cancer and The Colossus of Maroussi, he moved to Big Sur and started to paint. Check out his daughter Valentine Miller's loving website to her father. Last but not least, is playwright Arthur Miller. Born in NYC, his family moved to Brooklyn after the 1929 crash on Wall Street. I remember the first time I read the Crucible in school and later saw Death of a Salesman. Although he never expressed himself by painting, he later married someone who did - Agnes Barley, who is referenced in an interview given by his daughter, author Rebecca Miller and wife of actor Daniel-Day Lewis. Also, Rebecca's mother and Miller's 3rd wife, Inge Morath was a famous Magnum photographer. I happen to think it's Craig's time now...
