The Decisive Moment!

I spoke with my dear friend Ann the other night and she told me to check out the exhibit of one of my favorite photographers, Henri Cartier-Bresson at MOMA - I did today.  No one captured the moment more remarkably than Bresson.  Bresson was inspired to become a photographer after seeing this 1931 image titled" Black Boys on the shore of Lake Tanganyika by Martin Munkacsi.

When I studied photography at ICP, I unknowingly shot an image that I now think is similar to one of Bresson's - copying is the highest form of flattery no?:) Everyone is inspired by someone - his is needless to say, much better!
One other reason that I love him was for his work in the Far East - he shot Gandhi, not literally, some insignificant loser did, but he captured Gandhi in an image just days before his death. Bresson's world travels included Africa, Mexico, United States and Russia, his influence on photojournalists is still apparent today.  Bresson founded Magnum Photos in 1947 where it still sets the highest standards for photojournalism.  All of these people were at MOMA today - I love this museum!
If you have time...
