Who knew that May has been declared National Bike month? I have always loved bikes and remember vividly the day that my mother took me outside to teach me how to ride my bike and I went pedaling along until I realized that she had let go. As kids, our bikes were our vehicles to other worlds - if my mother only knew that we would ride to other towns on our bikes she may not have taught me! It's always odd to think that we take our bikes on trains, planes, ferries, bridges and cars - some destinations you simply can't get to by pedaling, but once there a beautiful world opens up! There are also different types of riders - those who like to race like Lance Armstrong, those who do it for a living - messengers, and those like me who love to take a beautiful leisurely ride while taking in all of the scenery and occasionally stopping to have a picnic or sit at a cafe and watch people go by. Of course my bike now has girlie accoutrements - a big pink flower, basket and a cute red bell - Happy Pedaling!
